Process Service

Process Service

Service of process is the procedure by which a party (known as the plaintiff) to a civil lawsuit gives an appropriate notice of an initial legal action to another party (known as the defendant) for a court to exercise jurisdiction in the matter. This service by notice enables the defendant to respond to the proceeding before the court.

Uniquely, Pennsylvania State Constables are not considered “personnel” of any court, county, municipality, or of the Commonwealth. Constables are peace officers whom exist independently under the Executive Branch of the Commonwealth with statewide jurisdiction. Certified Constables are empowered by statute to serve process for the Unified Judicial System of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As process servers, Constables are a taxation-free service. Fees are paid through court fees or by the person initiating the service.

    • Cease & Desist Notices

As a plaintiff, finding the right person for the nonpartisan job of serving civil law process can be a challenging search. Political connections, timing, evasiveness, and opposition by the defendants can be obstacles.

You also want the peace of mind that your legal documents have been properly served to the defendant in a timely and verifiable manner. After serving any legal documents, Constable Grove can deliver to you a notarized affidavit as proof of service.
